Operationalizing AI in the production environment

In this talk, Laurent D'Izarny-Gargas, European Sales Director at Veotic — a new brand launched on March 1, 2026, born from the combination of Proficy (GE's industrial software spin-off) and two PTC products, Kepware and ThingWorx — presents concrete applications of artificial intelligence on the shop floor. After outlining the main obstacles to AI adoption in manufacturing (data quality and accessibility from aging automation systems, measuring ROI, team adoption, security and "data poisoning" risk, and heterogeneous legacy systems), the speaker walks through two live demos: an AI assistant layered above a SCADA system, capable of automatically organizing raw industrial data into a hierarchy and detecting correlations between alarms, and an AI assistant connected to an MES system, queried in natural language to analyze production stoppage causes and identify the best- and worst-performing machines. The talk closes with Veotic's vision: combining artificial intelligence with what the company calls "authentic intelligence" — the accumulated experience of operators and engineers — through an aviation analogy contrasting a largely automated "cruise" mode with a mode where humans remain in control.
