Scaling Sovereign AI: Creating Value Through Interoperability and Efficiency

How do you industrialize AI in complex environments where systems "can live alone but cannot communicate"? In this panel recorded at the Tech for Industry Show, Ilaria Michelizzi (Head of Presales South Europe, AVEVA), Grégory Bondier (Head of Mobility Data, Alstom) and Scalian share the perspectives of a software vendor, an integrator and a manufacturer. The session covers the three structural barriers — sovereignty (heterogeneous standards, regulation), data (access, volume, quality, cost) and governance (human, technological, FinOps) — and concrete answers. On the AVEVA side: the PI System to unify and contextualize data, the CONNECT platform for secure sharing, and striking customer cases — Air Liquide's predictive maintenance across more than 300 sites and 40,000 monitored assets worldwide, Lamberti (fine chemicals) cutting energy impact by 5% without compromising productivity through the "golden batch," and ENCE (pulp & paper, Spain) anticipating water shortages with external data and reducing emissions by 15%. On the Alstom side: an installed base of 150,000 vehicles on projects lasting 30+ years, trains operated by third parties, and a platform built with Scalian — governance, automated cataloging, semantic layers — deployable identically in the cloud or on-premise, from France to Singapore. The common thread: the interoperable digital twin and the construction of a European rail dataspace. An essential panel for data, digital, maintenance and operations leaders in industry.
