Warehouses, SAP, and mobile usage: how to improve field execution with SAP EWM
In this customer story, Maxime Bollard (HRC Software, an industrial mobility software vendor) and Nicolas Bel (Saint-Gobain, EWM solution architect within central IT) present the rollout of a mobile solution for SAP EWM across the group's warehouses.
Facing aging warehouse management tools (a legacy SAP WM module the IT team no longer wanted to maintain, and in-house WMS systems incompatible with its future target ERP) and a roadmap of more than 50 sites to transform over three years, Saint-Gobain decided to decouple the EWM topic from its broader ERP transformation program to move faster, and to work with vendor HRC Software rather than build a custom solution in-house.
The talk compares standard SAP EWM screens — described as unintuitive — with the standardized mobile solution deployed with HRC Software: cockpit-based navigation, click-free scanning, resilience to network micro-disconnections, and integration built entirely on SAP standards. The speakers share concrete results: around 500 active users, 80,000 daily actions on the app, fast operator adoption, and a significant reduction in inventory discrepancies at a site in Romania.
The session closes with a Q&A on multi-site governance, international rollout, device choices, and Saint-Gobain's "clean core" strategy.
