Maintenance 4.0: Intervening quickly, effectively, and safely
In this talk, the founder of Neria, a software vendor specializing in digitizing maintenance interventions and safety, starts from a simple observation: common definitions of "Maintenance 4.0" emphasize performance and data, but very often leave out safety — even as "safety first" is sometimes seen by field teams as a constraint rather than a core pillar.
The talk details the silo effect that persists across three worlds: the CMMS, well mastered for planning interventions; production systems, historically kept separate for cybersecurity reasons; and safety tools (prevention plans, work permits, certifications), often disconnected from everything else — not to mention external contractors, who carry out 80% of interventions in France but remain largely outside the digital ecosystem.
Through several demos on real client sites (gas storage, an automated metro system), the speaker illustrates how to connect work orders, prevention plans, permits, and lockout-tagout procedures within a single system, backed by concrete metrics — including an intervention utilization rate that measures the gap between requested and actually performed work.
